Set in the heart of Soho, The Society Club is a unique bookshop, gallery and cocktail bar. And it’s elegant and welcoming like a Bohemian sitting room. We stock and source an eclectic range of books, from rare signed first editions to the latest publications, and have specialist sections such as Vintage Erotica, Soho literature, 20th Century Modern 1st Editions, Charles Bukowski, Rupert Brooke and pulp fiction. With regular exhibition openings and intimate author talks, there’s always something interesting coming up. Come in for a peaceful tea or a classic cocktail and browse the books and pet the dogs.
We also serve as a gallery, and we host shows every month. All photography is for sale (numbered editions, signed) and availabled framed and unframed. We also have a growing catalog of work we love, if you want to stop by and have a flip-through.
A note: We are dog-friendly, and there will probably be a dog or two asleep in the corner.
We host really interesting events, including book launches, poetry readings and photo exhibitions. Visit our Events page to find out current details and updates.
If you are looking for a specific book or interesting in acquiring or adding to your collection, we can help you. Come in (or email us) about our Book Hunting Abilities. We’re ace at it.
If you’d like to rent the space out for a private party or large meeting, private dinner, launches, workshop, class or even need a good space for a photo shoot - please email us, call or (better yet) stop by. We even have a downstairs. What’s better than your own shop with a background of books and photography … with a full bar?

HI Babette,
nice to see you again yesterday. Chris and I love the Society Club and look forward to popping back often. What you said about imagining Sebastian sitting in the corner holding court stayed with me… I’m pretty sure he’s there in spirit. I can’t get the image of a tall man in a very tall top hat sitting in the corner out of my head….
Read ab out you in this past weekend’s Financial Times How To Spend It and can’t wait to visit next time I’m in London. You’re great !

Hi. I walked into your shop yesterday. It was like walking into my own office! Great books, loads of Bukowski. Dandy In The Underworld. Amazing.
Well! We hope you come back soon. Just got new copies of Rimbaud in and some excellent vintage War poetry coming next week …. x
Great. Forgot to mention the Beckett and the Orwell. I will be back, very soon.
I confess, some of the Beckett’s (namely ‘For To End Yet Again’) went straight home with me. Sorry. But do come back.
Hello. I had a lovely first visit to your shop with my friend on Monday. Delicious carrot cake thanks, and I’m looking forward to the Michael Cunningham I picked up. I’ll have to schedule more London trips so I can pop in again.
I’m also searching for a couple of books so might have to email and ask for your help soon…
Email away! carrie@thesocietyclub.com – we’ll track ‘em down for you. Hope to see you again very soon. x
