“Andy Warhol told me to find your spot, grab a chair and let them come to you … These are stories and memories I have treasured from my very eventful past history.” -Leee Black Childers
We are thrilled to announce the publication of our very first book – DRAG QUEENS, RENT BOYS, PICK POCKETS, JUNKIES, ROCKSTARS AND PUNKS by the incredible Leee Black Childers. A gorgeously produced book filled with photos and the stories behind the photos – we’ve partnered with The Vinyl Factory who will be running a show to coincide with publication at their gallery on Walton Street.
Covering notables such as Andy Warhol, David Bowie, The Sex Pistols and Robert Mapplethorpe, the book also features several of the key underground celebrities; the self-proclaimed ‘superstars’ of the time, including Jackie Curtis, Wayne County, Holly Woodlawn, Cherry Vanilla and Candy Darling. From Andy Warhol’s The Factory and Max’s Kansas City to The Chelsea Hotel and The Anarchy Tour, Leee has been eye-witness to the musicians and artists that defined a generation and made a major impact on the generation that would follow.
Drag Queens, Rent Boys, Pick Pockets, Junkies, Rockstars and Punks by Leee Black Childers will be printed in a limited edition of 1,000 copies with 200 deluxe editions available exclusively through The Vinyl Factory and The Society Club.
The accompanying exhibition will take place at The Vinyl Factory Chelsea from 5th December, 2012.
